DesignBUILD Incubator winners announced by Bookmarc

Comments Bookmarc 04-04-2018

Seven winners have been announced for the 2018 DesignBUILD Incubator program, an initiative created by DesignBUILD to showcase emerging talent in the built environment industry.  Now in its third year and held in partnership with Architectural Review Asia Pacific, the DesignBUILD Incubator program brings together new businesses and start-ups to share brand new products or fresh ideas to the Australian market.

Proudly supporting new talent and innovation, winners of Incubator are then invited to showcase their product at the DesignBUILD expo in May, where it will be presented to over 7,000 architects, building contractors and specialists, designers, manufacturers and media.

DesignBUILD Event Manager Jamie Butler-Underwood says that the Incubator program gives emerging businesses a chance to showcase their talent.

“Incubator is a creative pavilion that champions innovative thinkers and gives them a proven, commercial platform to launch their inventions,” says Butler-Underwood.

“We are proud to support innovation within the built environment and work towards a more sustainable future.”

Three of the seven winners include:

Stem and Stamen – FoldLock Geosynthetic Amarantha Pendant Light

The Amarantha Pendant Light has been designed to bring nature indoors by dramatically lighting up plants and extending their life. The light stabilises plants in its fresh-cut state, where it will survive for years without the need for water or maintenance.

Dirk’s Backyard Creations – Porous Pave and Porous Grate

Porous Pave provides a solution for water run-off and draining, and improves water quality. The product enables developments to be undertaken in a sustainable manner by facilitating the most preferable destination for surface run-off.

Eco Wood – mechanical chemical modified timber

Eco Wood is a timber decking, structural and cladding product that provides structural strength to that of steel. A new combination of mechanical and chemical treatment allows control of all qualities of the timber, including colour, strength, fire and termite resistance. It takes the implementation of architecture to the next level by allowing smaller timber sections for design but keeping the same qualities of larger timber.
